Simi Hamilton

Born in Aspen, Colorado, Simi’s favorite season has always been winter. With both alpine and cross-country skiing running deep in his family’s blood, he has spent his happiest days outside enjoying the powder on the slopes and the cross-country trails on the rolling terrain around his home. The love that he has for spending time outside has driven him to pursue a vast array of activities outside of ski racing. In the summer, you can often find him riding single track on his mountain bike or rock climbing a remote western crag. In the Spring, he takes advantage of the runoff in the Rockies by kayaking steep creeks and usually finds his way to the coast to ride big waves. And during the cold and stormy winter months, he always tries to find time when he is not racing to sneak into the backcountry and ski deep powder with his friends and family. After ski racing, he plans to live somewhere surrounded by big mountains and friendly people.

Simi began cross-country ski racing at the age of 13. An alumnus of the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, he took advantage of his hometown’s excellent junior program to gain valuable racing and training experience both domestically and internationally. Between the age of 15-18, Simi tallied nine junior national championship titles and three Colorado high school state championship titles. He raced for Middlebury College (Division I) between ‘06-’09, earning three top-ten (“All-American”) finishes at NCAA championships. The highlight of his young career, Simi was named to the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team and competed in the classic sprint (29th place) as well as the 15 km skate race and 4×10 km relay in Vancouver, Canada. Currently, he is ranked 34th in the world in sprinting and has notched a World Cup top-10 and top-20 thus far in the 2011-2012 season. His primary goal is to win a medal in the freestyle sprint at the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
